He received his education and surgical training at leading institutions in New York (Stonybrook),in Houston (MD Anderson Cancer Center), London (Mount Vernon Hospital), Brussels, Basel, Paris, Berne, and Erlangen-Nuremberg—developing a broad and diverse foundation in plastic surgery.

        His view of plastic surgery as surgery of the soul is deeply inspired by Nobel laureate Dr. Joseph Murray from Boston Harvard, a pioneering plastic surgeon and close friend of his father.

        Since 2021, he has held a professorship at the University of Odessa, where he is instrumental in establishing plastic surgery as a recognized specialty. A committed researcher, Prof. Feinendegen leads a key histological collaboration with the University of Basel to advance techniques in tangential incisions.         Prof. Hamdi is a board-certified plastic surgeon in both Belgium and Spain. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Damascus, Syria, in 1990. In 1997, he moved to Belgium to complete his internship in general and plastic surgery.

        From 1999 to 2011, Prof. Hamdi served as a faculty member in the Plastic Surgery Department at Gent University Hospital. He has been recognized with the American/European Association for Plastic Surgery prize in aesthetic surgery.

        Notably, Prof. Hamdi is the only surgeon to have won the prestigious Hans Anderl Award for the best scientific publication by EURAPS twice, in 2005 and 2011.

        Since 2011, he has been the head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery at the Free University of Brussels. As of 2025, he also serves as the chairman of the Brussels Plastic Surgery Network at CHIREC private hospitals.
